I miss skating with my bros

I'd way rather skate the barn ramp with my bros then the raddest skatepark in Vancouver by myself.

Escaping the 2010 Olympics

Jordan and I parted ways during our reading break. Jordan flew to the hometown and I drove south down the coast with Aaron and two friends, Andy and Tom. It was a week long intense adventure, exploration, and pilgrimage. We made stops in Portland, St Herman of Alaska, and St John of Shanghai Monastery's, San Fransisco and Santa Cruz. It was an amazing and tiring trip together. The highlight for me was the three days that we spent at St Herman of Alaska, and St John of Shanghai Monastery's. It was a powerful, and challenging experience.

We stole the show

A bunch of weeks ago, Aaron and I had this display in the gallery at school. Rad tall bikes, rad tall bike photos and a rad tall bike video. Check out the video: http://www.vimeo.com/8821538

Zengalectric

After a week of making time in our busy schedules, Aaron and I finished this creation for a series of eatArt Olympic parties. It is an electric stationary bicycle sculpture that powers a row of LED strobes. The sculpture represents an interesting clash between antique invention, and dance party strobes. It was an instant hit at the first party. check it out at: http://www.vimeo.com/9317564

No Arms

I had to make a sculpture that would protect an egg when it was dropped from the top of Emily Carr. This little guy had the egg suspended in peanut butter inside of him.

This is how he landed:

And the egg:

The Giving Chair

This was a project that I did for my sculpture class last semester.
The assignment was to make a sculpture out of a chair.

I made tons of pencils out of my chair, here's the idea behind them.

I began by thinking about where my Salvation Army rescued, sad chair came from, which reminded me of the children's book, The Giving Tree written by Shel Silverstein. I considered the relationship between the tree & the boy, and the trees in my life, and in yours.

A tree is something that is universally abused. The trees just want to give us shade, a good climb, and friendship, and what do we do? We rip off their leaves, break their limbs, and cut them down. Perhaps, to make a chair.

A chair, is something that a community abuses. Like the tree, it loves you so, wants to support you, meanwhile your entire family sit on this chair, they knock it over, step on it, and eventually break it. The only thing to do is to throw it out and repurpose it.
Perhaps into a pencil.

A pencil, is something that an individual misuses. Pencils are the things that every person has had, or has and no one seems to care about. We throw them into ceilings, snap off their ends, chew on them, break them, and when we lose them, we don't even blink an eye.

And all they want to do is have us hold them.

Consume and Conform

This is a letter press print that I made. It was done by printing the words Consume and Conform continually over a stencil of Jordan riding the mini tall. I feel the tall bike is a rolling rebellion against consumer culture.

WHEN I FIND YOU BIKE THIEF,
YOU'RE DEAD MEAT.
